Joyous. Sexy. Heartbreaking. Take a dizzying ride through love’s collision course.
Based on 800 anonymous love stories submitted by you, your friends and your exes, I Want To Know What Love Is throws a spotlight on long-buried memories, bedroom fantasies, crushes and conquests as secret confessions are transformed into magnificent declarations centre stage. This is for everyone who’s ever loved. Anyone who’s ever hurt. This is for you.
This is a wonderfully original, hugely entertaining and highly physical performance from one of Brisbane’s most exciting contemporary performance companies, The Good Room. The performance incorporates story, movement and song, and is wildly surprising, at times moving, and enormously fun.

Many people who see the show will bring their partners, mothers or other groups of friends. Our audiences also have a strong “repeat offender” contingent, with people returning with friends.
Good Room shows create an original theatrical experience. There is an immediate engagement as audiences understand that it is their personal submissions, their friends’ submissions, or perhaps the submission of a stranger they are sitting next to that has created the show. This makes the audience the most important factor in the performance. See VoxPop video for an understanding of the audience experience of watching the show: https://vimeo.com/190182609
The Good Room and Critical Stages will work closely with you to build a social media buzz around the whole experience and ‘event’ nature of this performance.
The Good Room is a Queensland-based performance collective who use the anonymous experiences of ordinary people to create extraordinary theatre works. They ask you – and people just like you – to share anonymously fragments and memories, confessions and admissions from your lives and these stories ultimately are used to create the performance.
Because of this unique way of working, there are a range of community engagement opportunities available alongside a tour.
• Firstly, there is the opportunity for The Good Room to engage your community before their visit to add their own stories to the work. This will help build a buzz around the show long before it arrives and will create a genuine connection between your audience and the production.
• Masterclasses with the company on their unique approach to devising and contemporary performance, and post-show Q and A’s.
• Working with local artists &/or emerging artists in your community or simply working directly with your community and your audience to develop their own original work during their stay using their devising process.
